Beginning in February, the Lunch Bunch began a new devotional series called “The Foremothers of Jesus.” Beginning with Eve from the Book of Genesis and ending in December with Mary, the mother of Jesus, the group is studying eleven of the women in the biblical ancestry of Jesus.

The study is being facilitated by Rev. Arica Demme, who has been assisting Pastor Mark Chavez at Reformation since January 2022. “This is an exciting series,” Demme says. “In combing through the Old Testament, we find the names of over 20 women in Jesus’ direct ancestral lines. They include well-known people like Sarah, who God promised would be a mother of nations, but there are also lesser-known figures like evil Queen Athaliah who nearly destroyed the royal line of Judah.” Each month’s installment of the study can stand on its own, so ladies can join at any time during the year. There is no cost for the study.
